The depth of Skellerup's Industrial Division is extensive.
Skellerup is the largest industrial rubber products supplier in New Zealand, with customers in over 30 countries including Australia, Europe, the USA and Asia.
Through Gulf Rubber, Tumedei, Skellerup Rubber Services, Thorndon Rubber and Deks Industries, Skellerup can meet most of the needs for industrial polymer products across a variety of markets, including high volume precision moulded components supplied to major manufacturers worldwide.
Made up of 13 business units across four countries, the Industrial Division concentrates on the supply of both technical and non-technical products in Australasia, as well as technical polymer products and vacuum pumps globally.
Whether it is washers used in the consumer appliance industry in Europe or automotive components in the USA, Skellerup products can be found in virtually every section of industry, including manufacturing, civil and commercial construction, mining, retail and primary production such as forestry, fishing and agriculture.
Skellerup products often form critical components within a customer's processes.
From the snow boot linings made by Ultralon, roof-flashings by Deks and speciality o-rings made by Gulf Rubber, the common link across the division is a focus on quality systems, both in manufacturing and sourcing, and strong technical and research and development programmes to keep them at the forefront of their markets.
"We can source or manufacture at world competitive prices and still give excellent locally based technical support and service," says Gulf Rubber General Manager Scott Thompson.
"This service is not only provided to smaller volume domestic customers, but also to some of the largest original equipment manufacturers worldwide such as automotive and consumer goods manufacturers in Europe and the USA.
"Our processes include injection and compression moulding, extruding, and fabrication using natural and synthetic rubbers and polymers," says Thompson.
Skellerup's range of industrial manufacturing and product development facilities now includes operations in New Zealand, Australia, Italy, and China. These are augmented by specialist sourcing and quality teams that partner quality manufacturers in other countries around the world.
Skellerup is also well known for its range of industrial vacuum pumps. Its largest market for these is in the USA where – through its subsidiary, Masport Incorporated – Skellerup supplies pumps for installation on mobile liquid waste trucks, as well as for pumping slurry in the oil extraction industry.
